No update for a while because things seem to change every 24 hours.

Yesterday, Justine was diagnosed with a UTI. I guess she thought it looked like fun. It explains why she has been unable to keep her temperature stable over the last few days. While they are treating her, she has gone back into the isolette. She needs the energy to get better, not worry about staying warm.

They also had to install an IV in her hand yesterday. Between going back to the isolette box and the IV, I feel like we never made any progress.

Hopefully they were able to replace the IV today with oral meds. We’re on our way to the hospital now, so we’ll know soon. The doctors said she’ll need at least a week for the antibiotics to work.

Other than that, she is doing well. She eats all her food by bottle and loves eating more than her required amount. In fact, she put her hands on it the other day and nearly pulled it out of my grip. You go, girl.

She did have another breathing episode yesterday. At this point, I’ve given up looking at a specific homecoming date.

Jayce’s UTI is gone. He spends most of his day sleeping and practicing his bottle. He tends to be more awake than she is when we are there. That’s fun, except when’s awake and fussing for an hour because the equipment is bothering him. We wonder if his stomach is still adapting to regular feeds. The poor little guy looks so uncomfortable after food!

For those that have asked: Justine is now 5 lbs 3 ounces and Jayce is 3 lbs 11 ounces. She was born at 4 lbs something and he was 2.5 lbs.

We will all be home. Eventually.
