Young Writers Workshop: “Fantasy Fiction Plots: Quests, Wars, and Heists”

Join us for a survey of common fantasy plots in books, TV shows, and movies.

The goal? Help you choose the best template for your personal style, story, and characters.

Grades: 6-12

Required materials: Note-taking supplies.

It would be helpful if registrants would do at least 1 of the following, depending on which plot type they are interested in:

• [Quest] Watch Star Wars IV, Eragon, or How to Train Your Dragon
• [Heists] Read a summary of YA fantasy books, Six of Crows. (Note to parents: There is some violence in the book.) Or watch the new Dungeons & Dragons movie, Honor Among Thieves.
• [Quests/Wars] Watch Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
• [Quests, fiction for kids] Read a summary of Alanna: The First Adventure by Tamora Pierce
